Islam is not a monolith which is why it is important to recognize the existing heiarchies and power dynamics amongst muslim communities and within the muslim communities. I’m very interested in islamic psychology that offers historically accurate knowledge (one that is not rooted in western frameworks) to confront the misogyny and patriarchy in sacred spaces like Masjids.
Too often queer and trans muslims are denied access to spiritual life. Spiritual care for marginalized muslims (including sexual and gender minotities) is a topic very dear to me. I advocate for uplifting historically marginalized Queer muslim communities to foster Islam that leaves no one behind because in islam every person has a right to faith without fear of violence or excommunication.
